We ship our fruit flies (Drosophila hydei) using UPS Overnight service. Our Live Pet Foods ship to all of the continental United States of America including Alaska but we CAN NOT ship to Hawaii. During the winter months, we use specially designed thermal boxes to help keep your fruit flies (Drosophila hydei) warm during transit. If outdoor temperatures are particularly low, we may also include a heat pack for added warmth. Keeping fruit flies (Drosophila hydei) with different feeder insects can be tricky and is generally not recommended. You should use separate containers tailored to each insect species.
Fruit flies (Drosophila hydei) are best stored at room temperature with lid in place. Each jar will contain approximately 250 adult fruit flies with their food and water source in the jar. When cared for properly the flightless fruit flies will continue to reproduce for multiple generations. When dispensing fruit flies into animal enclosures, we recommend leaving 50% of the flies in the jar so reproduction can continue. Drosophila melanogaster fruit flies reproduce much quicker than their Drosophila hydei counterparts.
