Customer Reviews
Mini Vita-Bug Mealworms are the result of years of research and development targeted at improving the nutritional profile of a feeder insect product line by providing a quality food source during the entire growing process that delivers those nutrients directly to insect-eaters. Vita-Bugs® consume a patented food throughout their lifetime specifically formulated for insect consumption, fortified with nutrients like Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Thiamin, Beta-Carotene Omega-6 and Omega-3 Fatty Acids just to name a few. Not only does the feed itself contain these vitamins, it’s also scientifically proven that they are actually consumed and retained within the tissue of the insect.
We feed our Mini Vita-Bug Mealworms a proprietary, patented diet throughout their lifetime specifically formulated for insect consumption, fortified with nutrients like Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Thiamin, Beta-Carotene, Omega-6 and Omega-3 Fatty Acids.
We ship our Mini Vita-Bug Mealworms using UPS Overnight service. Our Live Pet Foods ship to all of the continental United States of America including Alaska but we CAN NOT ship to Hawaii. During the winter months, we use specially designed thermal boxes to help keep your Mini Vita-Bug Mealworms warm during transit. If outdoor temperatures are particularly low, we may also include a heat pack for added warmth. All live food is guaranteed to arrive alive, except for shipments to areas where temperatures fall below 10°F or rise above 100°F. Additionally, all live food purchases come with a 72-hour health guarantee.
Keeping Mini Vita-Bug Mealworms with different feeder insects can be tricky and is generally not recommended. You should use separate containers tailored to each insect species.
Mealworm cups are packed in mealworm bedding that is also the food source for the worms. They are perfectly healthy at room temperature, but they eat, grow and produce waste at a much higher rate, decreasing their shelf life significantly. It is recommended that mealworms be kept in a refrigerator at its warmest setting, between 42F and 55F with low humidity. The cooler temperatures slow the worms’ metabolism significantly, extending their shelf life up to three weeks with almost no quality degradation. Often refrigerators are set at a much lower temperature, so use a thermometer to ensure proper settings. Keeping mealworms for extended periods of time below 42° will kill them.
It is our recommendation to use all your Mini Vita-Bug Mealworms within 3-4 weeks of their pack date.
