• When choosing a Live Food item for your pet, pick an item that’s smaller in width than the animal’s mouth.
• Standard waxworms should be enhanced with calcium by dusting or by including CalciWorms in your animal’s diet. Your animal’s diet should be further enriched by including hornworms for additional moisture.
• Standard waxworms should remain refrigerated at 55°F for no longer than three weeks to maintain maximum quality. Providing food and water is not necessary.

Standard Waxworms (Galleria mellonella) are often used by reptile owners and keepers as a treat, waxworms are high in fat and very desirable for insectivores. Waxworms should notbe used as a staple food item. Waxworms can be used as a much-needed energy source for pregnant female reptiles and those recovering from pregnancy or illness.

What do you feed your Standard Waxworms?

We feed our Standard Waxworms a scientifically formulated diet specifically designed to enhance the health and quality of all the insects in our colony.

How do you ship your Standard Waxworms?

We ship our Standard Waxworms using UPS Overnight service. Our Live Pet Foods ship to all of the continental United States of America including Alaska but we CAN NOT ship to Hawaii. During the winter months, we use specially designed thermal boxes to help keep your Standard Waxworms warm during transit. If outdoor temperatures are particularly low, we may also include a heat pack for added warmth. All live food is guaranteed to arrive alive, except for shipments to areas where temperatures fall below 10°F or rise above 100°F. Additionally, all live food purchases come with a 72-hour health guarantee.

Can I store Standard Waxworms with different feeder insects?

Keeping Standard Waxworms with different feeder insects can be tricky and is generally not recommended. You should use separate containers tailored to each insect species.

How should I care for Standard Waxworms?

Waxworms (Galleria mellonella) are packed in aspen chips that serve as their bedding. Waxworms are at a stage in their lives  where they no longer eat and survive on their body mass. To slow their metabolism, it is best to keep them in a refrigerator between 50F and 55F with low humidity. Typical refrigerator settings are much colder than 55F, so  we recommend turning the fridge to the warmest setting and storing waxworms in the door where it stays a bit warmer.

It is our recommendation to use all your Standard Waxworms within 3-4 weeks of their pack date.
